Doctoral student paper receives top award

A paper written by statistics doctoral student Xiaochen Yang was deemed the best in the annual Distinguished Student Paper Competition conducted by the American Statistical Association Section on Statistics in Genomics and Genetics (ASA SSGG).

Her paper is titled “Multi-organ imaging-derived polygenic indexes for brain and body health” and is a joint work with former Purdue statistics professor Bingxin Zhao.

The student paper award competition received 34 submissions from multiple institutes and universities. The papers were judged by 25 reviewers and each paper was scored by at least two and mostly three reviewers. The average scores were used to select the top four students as the winners.

Xiaochen is invited to present her paper at the 2024 Joint Statistical Meetings in August. Congratulations!
