Welcome New Faculty and Students

The Department of Statistics would like to welcome Tao Wang and nine new graduate students to the Department this semester.
Tao Wang joined the Department of Statistics this semester as a Visiting Assistant Professor. She received her Ph.D. in Computing Science from the University of Alberta, Canada in 2007. Her research interests include Decision Theory, Machine Learning, Markov Chain Monte Carlo, Massive Data, Modeling and Model Selection, and Time Series. She is teaching STAT 30100 "Elementary Statistical Methods" and STAT 51100 "Statistical Methods" this semester.
Currently, the Department of Statistics has 61 faculty members, 17 full and part-time staff members, and 99 graduate students (59 Ph.D. students and 40 M.S. students).
