Purdue Department of Statistics announces Moore scholarship winners

WEST LAFAYETTE , Ind -- Purdue University's Department of Statistics recently announced additional recipients of its new David S. Moore Undergraduate Scholarship.
Kyle Bemis of Indianapolis and Angela Hancock of Pekin, Ill., were awarded the scholarship, which is given annually to incoming freshmen planning to major in statistics. The one-time scholarship ranges from $1,000 to $2,000.
Bemis is a high honors student at Park Tudor High School and earned a perfect score on the SAT. He also was awarded Purdue's College of Science Distinguished Student Award.
Hancock is a high honors student at Pekin Community High School and is the captain of the school's Science Olympiad team.
Both will enroll as freshmen in the Department of Statistics at Purdue in the fall.
The scholarship is named in honor of Moore, the Shanti S. Gupta Distinguished Professor Emeritus and internationally recognized figure in statistics education.
Students who have been admitted to Purdue's College of Science and are planning to major in statistics are encouraged to apply for the scholarship. Interested students must meet the requirements and complete the general College of Science merit scholarship application.
