New: Statistical Bioinformatics Center

The Department of Statistics is pleased to announce Professor Rebecca Doerge as the Director of the Statistical Bioinformatics Center (SBC). The SBC will focus its research efforts on the statistical issues and analyses of genetic, genomic, and biologically oriented data. The concept of the SBC is supported by a committment of Purdue University to the new area of Bioinformatics, and complements the ongoing COALESCE initiative in the College of Science. The Statistical Bioinformatics Center was born from a University-wide initiative to target compelling national research priorities that require insights and contributions from multiple disciplines.

Currently, the department has 11 faculty members working at the interface of statistics, bioinformatics, and biologically related disciplines, and has recently graduated a number of Ph.D. students working in these areas.
