Do you offer financial aid?
For all Purdue Online programs, you’ll go through the same aid process and have similar options for aid as do other students.
If you are a degree-seeking student and meet financial aid citizenship requirements, you may be eligible for the Stafford and/or Grad PLUS Loan programs. To be considered for these, be sure to complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and that you are enrolled at least half time. Explore these loan options.
How do online classes work? Do I have to be at my computer at a specific time?
As a Purdue graduate student, you will be taking classes in an online environment. Instructors provide material, lectures, tests and assignments that can be accessed at any time. Your lectures are not time-restricted, meaning you don't need to be logged in to view your course material at a specific time.
However, all of your course activities, assignments, and exams must be completed by their respective due dates. You will need to view course lectures regularly to keep current.
How much time should I plan to spend on the program each week?
Students complete 33 credits over six semesters with a time commitment of approximately 15-20 hours per week.
How will I be graded?
Students are graded based on their performance in class. The courses we offer online will have various methods for grading depending on the specific requirements for a given class. Students can expect to experience any combination of homework, graded exam, final project, group work or graded reports. Learn more about the Purdue Grading Scale.
Can I transfer credits into the degree?
Yes, up to 6 graduate-level credit hours may be considered eligible for transfer if they fit within the current curriculum, have not been used towards another awarded degree or certificate, and received a B or better.
Course transfers will be reviewed on a semester basis as determined by the department. To have courses reviewed for transfer, we will need an official transcript, the course name/number you wish to transfer, and the course description.
How are the online programs different from the on-campus programs?
The online Master of Science in Applied Statistics consists of the same courses as the on-campus program. The courses are taught by the same faculty and the degree awarded is the same. The only difference between the online and the on-campus programs is the delivery method.
Is the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) required for this program?
No, the GRE or GMAT are not required. The Admission Committee reviews all other admission materials submitted to determine an admission decision.
