March 25, 2006: State Science Olympiad. STATCOM P-12 Outreach provided volunteers for this competition held at Purdue University. Students in grades 6-12 competed in science-related events throughout the day. Volunteers assisted with miscellaneous tasks to make the event a success!
March 11, 2006: State MATHCOUNTS. STATCOM P-12 Outreach provided volunteers for this middle-school math competition held at Purdue University. Volunteers helped with grading tests.
February 11, 2006: Regional MATHCOUNTS. STATCOM P-12 Outreach provided volunteers for this middle-school math competition held at Purdue University. Volunteers helped with grading tests and assisted with the final countdown round.
Oct. 15, 2005: Purdue Homecoming. STATCOM P-12 Outreach team hosted a Texas Hold 'Em exhibit in the College of Science tent. Participants had fun playing the game while learning some rules about probability.
Aug. 17, 2005:Purdue Day at the Indiana State Fair. STATCOM P-12 Outreach team provided activities for all ages in the College of Science tent at the State Fair in Indianapolis. In the morning, fair-goers had the opportunity to participate in a version of "Let's Make a Deal" where they learned about the Monty Hall Problem. In the afternoon, they tried to beat the odds by playing and learning about the chances of winning a lottery game.
July 18, 2005: Camp Calcium, STATCOM P-12 Outreach team presented classroom activities to adolescents participating in Purdue University's Camp Calcium. Campers learned about the Secretary Problem, how to compute the chances of winning a certain lottery game, as well as ideas about sampling and estimation.

Apr. 16-17, 2005: Spring Fest 2005. STATCOM P-12 Outreach team provided activities for all ages on the Memorial Mall and at the Cricket Spitting contest to illustrate how statistics and probability can be used. Read the Department of Statistics article here.
