The Purdue Actuarial Science Program continues to thrive as a leader in actuarial education, offering students a rigorous, interdisciplinary curriculum that blends mathematics, statistics, and risk analysis. This program is recognized as the only Center of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) in Indiana, a distinction awarded by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) for our outstanding academic curriculum, faculty expertise, and student outcomes. Additionally, Purdue is recognized under the SOA University Earned Credit (UEC) Program, providing students with a streamlined approach to earning SOA exam credit while pursuing their academic journey at Purdue University. Purdue Actuarial Science is also recognized by the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) at the Silver Level of the University Recognition Program for its strong commitment to property and casualty actuarial education and research.
This year, the program has seen remarkable achievements from students and faculty. Many students have successfully passed professional actuarial exams and secured internship and full-time positions, furthering their progress toward their career goals. Additionally, the Actuarial Science Club hosted various industry events, providing valuable networking and career development opportunities to our students.
Actuarial faculty remain at the forefront of actuarial research, securing competitive grants from the SOA and CAS. Current research initiatives include predictive modeling for insurance risk, the application of machine learning in actuarial science, and the broadening societal role of actuaries in addressing emerging global challenges such as population aging, climate change, financial stability in the current digital era, and geopolitical uncertainties.
Looking ahead, Actuarial Science excited to expand its program to Purdue University in Indianapolis, welcoming the first cohort of actuarial science students in Fall 2025. This expansion will provide students in central Indiana with access to Purdue’s premier actuarial education, preparing them for careers in risk management, insurance, and financial analytics. Purdue is eager to build a strong actuarial community at its new location while maintaining the same standard of excellence that defines the program.
With over 300 students enrolled, Purdue Actuarial Science is committed to preparing the next generation of actuaries and risk professionals. Purdue Actuarial Science looks forward to continuing our tradition of excellence and innovation in actuarial education.
