Purdue Actuarial Science Expands to Indianapolis

11-18-2025

The Purdue Actuarial Science Program is expanding its reach with a new presence at Purdue University in Indianapolis, bringing Purdue’s top-ranked actuarial education to students in central Indiana.

This expansion opens new opportunities for collaboration and professional development, connecting students directly with the region’s robust insurance and financial sectors. Co-op placements and partnerships with local employers will offer valuable hands-on experience and enhance career readiness.

Gnapika Birlangi says she likes the Indianapolis campus “because of the smaller actuarial science group. I am able to connect more with my teachers and classmates, while gaining unique opportunities such as meeting actuaries in professional events."

The first cohort—six pioneering students—began their studies in Fall 2025, laying the foundation for future growth. Much like the West Lafayette program, which started with just six students in the early 1980s, the Indianapolis program is poised to grow into a thriving academic community defined by excellence, innovation, and connection.
