2012 COS Faculty and Staff Awards

Congratulations to Teena Erwin, José Figueroa-Lopez, Michael Levine, Frederi Viens, Holly Graef, Bo Li, Mark Ward, and Michael Zhu, all of whom were recognized at the College of Science Faculty and Staff Awards luncheon held on February 22, 2012.
Teena Erwin, Secretarial Assistant for the Statistical Consulting Service, was recognized for 35 years of service to Purdue University.
José Figueroa-Lopez (Assistant Professor of Statistics), Michael Levine (Associate Professor of Statistics), and Frederi Viens (Professor of Statistics and Director of the Computational Finance Program at Purdue), received a Team Award for their work with the Computational Finance Program.
Holly Graef received the Customer Service Award. This award recognizes outstanding customer service within the College of Science. Individuals receiving this award exhibit a consistent pattern of congenial behavior to all contacts and treat others with respect. They also have a positive attitude even under the most difficult circumstances and anticipate the needs of others and take appropriate action.
Bo Li, Assistant Professor of Statistics, received the Leadership Award, which recognizes College of Science faculty who demonstrate intitiative and innovation, and who provide leadership within their department. The recipient of this award typically motivates by example, develops other faculty and staff members, and serves as a mentor and resource person.
Mark Daniel Ward, Assistant Professor of Statistics, also received a Team Award for his work with the multi-department team behind the Center for Science of Information, part of the NSF's Science and Technology Center program.
Michael Zhu, Associate Professor of Statistics, received the Graduate Student Mentoring Award, which recognizes excellence in the mentoring of graduate students, as well as effective nurturing of graduate students' professional and personal growth.
