For the academic year 2005-2006, 8 Ph.D. students, 16 M.S. students, 12 Graduate Certificate students, 43 Undergraduate Statistics students and 30 Actuarial Science students received degrees from the Department of Statistics.

We would like to highlight the achievements of one of the Department's M.S. graduates, Patricia Yoshida.

Patricia Yoshida

Patricia graduated with a M.S. in Applied Statistics from Purdue. She entered the program in Fall 2004 after obtaining a B.S. in Mathematics, with a Statistics minor, from the University of Washington (Seattle).

While at Purdue, Patricia was part of the Statistical Consulting Service, learning techniques for statistical problem-solving. She was also actively involved in STATCOM, being a project manager and also working on several projects. The summer between her two years at Purdue, she worked at ATK Thiokol, an aerospace company in Utah. She was part of the Statistical Applications Group there, implementing Statistical Process Control and working with engineers on variation reduction and process improvement projects for the space shuttle rocket motors.

For her post-graduation plans, she has accepted a position at Affinnova, a technology-based marketing firm in Boston, MA. She will work as a statistical analyst, which will require data analysis, modeling and scripting as well as customer interfacing.

Best wishes to all of our graduates. We look forward to hearing from you!
