For the year 2005, the Department of Statistics has graduated ten Ph.D. students, twenty-one M.S. students, eight Graduate Certificate students, twenty-six Undergraduate Statistics students and twenty-one Actuarial Science students.

We would like to highlight the achievements of Yu Zhu, a December 2005 Department of Statistics Graduate Certificate graduate. Yu's Certificate in Applied Statistics complemented his Ph.D. work in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction in the College of Education at Purdue University. Course work for the certificate enabled Yu to improve the experimental design and data analysis for his Ph.D. thesis. A paper based on his Ph.D. thesis was published in October 2005 in a peer reviewed journal in his field. Yu was awarded his Ph.D. degree in December 2005. He will begin working towards his M.S. in Statistics in January 2006.
