Abstract:

Many community-living older adults need help with daily activities such as bathing, eating, dressing, toileting and getting around inside. Twenty percent of older adults who need help with these daily activities do not have sufficient help. This presentation will provide evidence of the costly and devastating consequences of insufficient help for these activities. Findings will be discussed in terms of limitations and benefits of using claims data to describe the practice and policy significance of insufficient help.
