Workshop C Statistical Consultancy
23-24 June 2003
Ends at Noon Tuesday, June 24.
Six sessions will focus on topics of interest to those involved in statistical consulting. At each session, participants will discuss the topics in small groups; the results of these discussions will then be shared with the whole group. Although the focus will be on issues faced in academic environments, we welcome input from consultants working in business, industry, and government. Topics to be discussed include the structure of consulting organizations, funding, short courses, assistance with grant proposal writing, software consulting, preparation of graduate student consultants, accountability, reports, ethics, data monitoring boards, institutional review boards, and making the transition from consulting to collaboration. Our featured speaker at the banquet on June 23 is David McKinnis, director of the technical assistance program and vice provost for Engagement at Purdue University, http://tap.purdue.edu/. A poster session will be held before the banquet.
