1999 Distinguished Alumnus Thomas J. Santner

Professor and Chair of the Department of Statistics at Ohio State University

Dr. Santner is Professor and Chair of the Department of Statistics at Ohio State University. Before coming to Ohio State in 1989, he was Professor of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering at Cornell University. Dr. Santner has a national reputation for his research in the analysis of discrete data, in the analysis of biomedical and reliability data, and in multiple decision theory. He was director of the Cornell University Statistics Center from 1983 to 1986 and served as director of the Statistical Consulting Service at Ohio State University from 1989 until he became Chair of the Statistics Department in 1992. Dr. Santner has authored three books, and was the Editor in Chief of the Contemporary Statistics book series published by the American Statistical Association. He has served as Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Statistical Association, for Biometrics, and for the Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and of the American Statistical Association.
