Abstract:

Biotechnology will be the driver for the next generation of crop improvement to meet the world's future food demands. Marker assisted breeding is a key biotechnology method currently in use within the agriculture community to drive crop improvement. One methodology for determining genetic regions that can be incorporated is genetic trait mapping. Genetic trait mapping involves locating regions of the genome that are associated with the expression of a desired phenotype. This presentation will focus on the statistical, biological and practical components of employing genetic mapping in a commercial agricultural company.
