Abstract

Identification of transcriptional regulators is a first step toward deciphering gene regulatory networks. Despite the acceleration of algorithm developments in predicting transcription factor binding sites, current methods are not ready for serious applications because of the poor predictive specificity. We propose an integrative analysis that combines information from gene regulatory sequences, genome-wide location analysis (ChIP-chip experiments), and gene expression microarray. The three data sources help to build better predictions of functional regulators.
