This supplement contains 421 new exercises, arranged by chapter of
BPS. These exercises appeared in the second or third editions of BPS.
They were replaced in later editions in the interest of freshness, but
they remain high-quality exercises that supplement those in the fourth
edition. Some have been updated using more recent data.
Teaching Examples
Examples .
Teaching data-oriented statistics requires considerable preparation
time because of the need to locate good class examples and prepare the
analysis and graphs that accompany them. This supplement aims to ease
preparation time by providing fully annotated teaching examples for
each chapter of BPS. All of the examples are fresh; that is, they do not
appear in BPS itself. Data tables and graphical displays are on separate
pages for easy use as transparency masters.

the data file for the Chapter 1 teaching example is
