Title: INTRODUCTION TO MICROARRAY ANALYSIS

Abstract

The popularity of gene expression experiments has increased dramatically in recent years, due mainly to the advent of the DNA microarray. This new technology gives investigators previously unprecedented power over the design and control of expression experiments, allowing the collection of gene expression data to be conducted at the whole-genome level for many organisms. In addition to opportunities for biologists, this technology also opens up an exciting new area for statisticians, who must develop methods for dealing with the large amounts of data produced by expression experiments. This talk will give an overview of DNA microarray technology and methodology, and will review current statistical approaches to analyzing data from microarray experiments.
