Statistics & Computer Science: Mining, Learning, Visualization and Massive Data

Purdue Statistics, collaborating with partners across the campus in computer science and engineering, and with partners in other institutions, is building new research projects in visualization, data mining, and machine learning. We are tailoring approaches and tools to deal with massive data based on our experiences on projects with very large databases in computer networking and bioinformatics. And the Department is building courses and programs to teach students about these areas of work, which now embrace the statistics profession and are becoming critical components of the everyday life of those who learn from data.
