Qi Receives Microsoft Research Award
The Microsoft Research Breakthrough Award supports research that will potentially have great impact on the world's most important problems. The selected work exhibits cutting-edge computational techniques which through interdisciplinary work widely benefit science and society. In line with Breakthrough Award attributes, Qi's collaborative work shows "promising new approaches for enabling their solution."
Qi has a dual appointment in Computer Science and Statistics and a courtesy appointment in Biology. His main research interests include Bayesian machine learning and computational biology. He received his PhD from the Media Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2005.
