Department of Statistics and Department of Mathematics Monday, November 11, 2002 3:30 PM in REC 113 Professor Aaron Yip Purdue University will speak on Stochastic Equations for Epitaxial Thin Film Growth Abstract We will describe some stochastic equations for the modeling of epitaxial thin film growth. Such thin films are important in the manufacturing of advanced electronic devices. The talk will emphasize on the connection between microscopic and macroscopic descriptions. The underlying atomic processes can be very random and discrete. But the modeling using (stochastic or deterministic) partial differential equations is not completely understood yet. We will discuss some relevant equations and related questions. |
