Applying for M.S., Fifth Year M.S., or Ph.D.
- Complete Purdue University's Graduate School On-line Application. Included in this application you should submit a Statement of Purpose, and request that academic recommendation letters be submitted to the Graduate School. In addition to the Purdue University Graduate School application, please fill out the Statistics Supplemental form requesting information about math and statistics courses you have taken.
- Request that your official GRE and, if necessary, your TOEFL scores be submitted to the Department of Statistics. (See Where to Send Requested Information) GRE scores should not be older than five years. Students within the United States may submit a copy of scores for the paper based TOEFL, or the computer based TOEFL exam, or the new (as of September 2005) TOEFL exam. Students outside the United States may submit either the paper based or computer based TOEFL scores for the 2005-2006 academic year. No TOEFL score should be older than two years. International students are strongly encouraged to take the TSE in addition to the GRE and TOEFL.

The local testing center is: Sylvan Prometric Testing, 4050 Britt Road, Lafayette, IN 47905, Phone number is (765) 447-0626. For the GRE, use a School Code of 1631. Copies of the GRE and TOEFL scores can also be sent to the Department of Statistics. (See Where to Send Requested Information) - Request that one official transcript (one each in original language and English translation) from each college or university that you have attended be mailed to the Department of Statistics. - International Students only: Submit a copy of each degree received in original language and English translation to the Department of Statistics. (See Where to Send Requested Information)
Applying for a Dual Degree
- An application for admission to each department must be submitted through the Purdue University Graduate School On-line Application.
- A Dual degree usually happens when a student is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in one department and wishes to pursue a Master's degree in another department. The student must submit a Notice of Dual Degree Form - GS18, in writing, with the signatures of both department heads at the time of application to the Graduate School upon acceptance by the Department of Statistics.
Applying for Graduate Certificate
- When you apply through the Purdue University Graduate School On-line Application
it will appear as though you are applying to
the Graduate School as a regular graduate student (even
though you may already be enrolled in the
Graduate School through another department). Once you reach the question asking for the
Enrollment Objective, select the
Certificate Program option. It will
default to only the information needed to complete the
application.
The required documents are:- transcript of grades, and
- an academic resume that indicates previous college degrees and current enrollment in graduate or undergraduate programs, and
- the Graduate School will require a verification of
a bachelor's degree.
- All documents must be submitted before admission to the program is made. (See Where to Send Requested Information)
Applying for Post-Baccalaureate (Non-degree)
- When you apply through the Purdue University Graduate School On-line Application it will appear as though you are applying to
the Graduate School as a regular graduate student. Once the
student has reached the question asking for the
Enrollment Objective and selects the
Post-Baccalaureate Program (Non-degree) option, it will
default to only the information needed to complete the
application.
A transcript of grades should also be submitted. (See Where to Send Requested Information)

Application Deadlines
Applications for admission and financial support for students should be complete by January 15 for entry in the fall semester or the summer session. Later applications may be at a disadvantage with respect to financial support through fellowships and teaching assistantships.Occasionally a few applicants are accepted for entry in the spring semester. Such applications should be complete by September 15. Exception: the deadline for spring semester for applicants residing inside the United States is October 15.
In anticipation of delays for admission of international students, non-US citizens are urged to complete their applications as soon as possible, and well in advance of the departmental deadline. |
